An Overview of therapy
Decisions depend on you and your preferences. First I get to know the world through your eyes. The more I know and understand about you, the more able I am to be effective in helping. I learn about the reason that brings you in my door. We agree on an initial goal and plan of treatment, including which therapies will be used to begin with. Therapy has an organic, intuitive flow. Each session builds understanding on the therapy of previous sessions.
We monitor and guide your progress, so what we do changes according to its effectiveness. Therapy is complete when your goal has been met, or when you are empowered to work toward your goal without further support or with further help of a different nature.
At the end of therapy we talk about what has gone on in the course of our work together, and say what needs to be said to have a healthy goodbye and ending.
Is my therapeutic style based on a particular psychotherapy method?
Several psychological theories, including Transpersonal Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Existential Theory contribute to my working style. Also, my approach is informed by Eastern perspectives of healing.
My approach is based on my understanding that there are many truths and many layers to truth. I have found that the deeper inside you go, the more profound the truth. My goal is to support you in your truth at whatever levels we choose to work.
Psychotherapy may be the only therapy we use. We may decide to use deeper-mind work. It depends on the goal and what is right for you. Therapy may include teaching you a skill, such as self-hypnosis, guided imagery, meditation or mindfulness to provide tools for you to use at home in your life. You will have a course of action that is individualized both at the outset of therapy and along the way, so that therapy fits you.
